GFI has recently supplied PIR double-sided aluminum foil pre-insulated duct panel for an HVAC air duct system improvement project at Hospital HVAC Project in the Philippines.
The project was carried out in cooperation with a local Philippine engineering contractor. In addition to supplying the pre-insulated duct panels. GFI also provided on-site technical guidance for duct panel fabrication and installation. Helping the project team follow the correct fabrication process and improve the efficiency and consistency of on-site ductwork construction.
PIR Pre-insulated Duct Panels for Hospital HVAC Applications
Hospitals require HVAC systems in healthcare facilities require reliable air distribution and careful control of indoor environmental conditions. For this project, the engineering contractor selected GFI’s PIR pre-insulated duct panels with double-sided aluminum foil facing for the air duct system improvement.
The aluminum foil PIR insulation core provides thermal insulation performance, while the aluminum foil facings provide a smooth and durable surface for HVAC duct applications. The lightweight panel structure also makes the panels easier to handle, cut, fabricate and install on site.
GFI Engineers Provide On-site Cutting and Fabrication Guidance
GFI engineers visited the project site in the Philippines and provided practical guidance throughout the duct panel fabrication process. Rather than focusing only on product delivery. GFI’s technical support covered the complete duct panel fabrication workflow from panel measurement to final assembly.
The on-site fabrication process included:
Measurement → Cutting → Glue Application → Folding → Flanging & Reinforcement → Sealing → Final Assembly
This step-by-step guidance helped the project team better understand the correct fabrication methods and improve the accuracy of the finished ductwork.
1. Measurement
The first step is accurate measurement according to the duct dimensions and project requirements. Proper measurement helps reduce material waste and ensures that each duct section can be accurately fabricated and assembled.
2. Cutting
After measuring the required dimensions, workers cut the PIR pre-insulated duct panel according to the specified duct configuration. Accurate positioning and proper cutting methods ensure clean edges and precise panel dimensions. GFI engineers demonstrated the cutting procedure to the contractor’s team and explained key points that can affect the quality of the finished duct.
3. Glue Application
After cutting the panels, workers apply a compatible adhesive to the designated joints and connection areas according to the fabrication requirements. Proper adhesive application helps maintain the structural integrity of the duct and ensures reliable connections between individual panel sections.
4. Folding
After the panel has been cut and prepared, the duct panels sections are folded along the designated lines to form the basic duct shape. Accurate folding helps maintain the required duct dimensions and geometry.
5. Flanging and Reinforcement
The next stage involves forming the duct edges and reinforcing the structure.Flanges and reinforcement components help improve the mechanical stability of the duct sections and provide secure connection points during installation.
6. Sealing
After forming and reinforcing the duct sections, workers properly seal all joints and connection areas. Effective sealing helps reduce air leakage and maintain the overall airtightness of the HVAC duct system.
7. Final Assembly
The final step involves assembling the fabricated duct sections into the HVAC air duct system. After completing the measurement, cutting, bonding, folding, flanging, reinforcement, and sealing processes, installers connect and install the finished duct sections according to the project layout.
Through on-site technical guidance. GFI engineers helped the contractor’s team complete the fabrication process more systematically and understand the key quality-control points at each stage.
Conclusion:From Product Supply to On-site Technical Support
GFI continues to provide PIR/PUR and phenolic pre-insulated duct panels and related HVAC ductwork solutions for commercial, industrial and institutional projects worldwide.
For the Hospital Pre-insulated Ductwork project, GFI went beyond supplying PIR double-sided aluminum foil pre-insulated duct panels. Our engineers provided on-site cutting and fabrication guidance, working alongside the Philippine engineering contractor throughout the complete process—from measurement and cutting to bonding, folding, flanging, reinforcement, sealing and final assembly.
The Hospital Air Duct System Project demonstrates GFI’s successful application of PIR pre-insulated duct panels and technical support in the healthcare sector, with GFI engineers providing on-site technical guidance.
